I am an Instructional Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Department of Engineering Education and an Affiliate Instructional Associate Professor in the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Department, Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, University of Florida. I teach Data Structures & Algorithms, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and CS1 courses.
I completed my Ph.D. at the Engaging Learning Lab where I worked with Dr. Christina Gardner-McCune on projects that aimed to foster students' formation of computing identities and improving the employability of computing graduates.
My research interests include Computing Education, Informal Learning Environments, Employability, Agency and Identity Formation. Currently, my work focuses on understanding agency formation in formal, non-formal, and informal learning spaces. I direct the Grasshopper Lab at the University of Florida.
The broader goal of my research is to improve computing students' employability by (1) reducing the gap between industry and academia; (2) fostering the development of computing students' agency for participation in self-directed learning; and (3) understanding computing students' information-seeking behaviors.
