Email / FAQs
[COP3530 Summer 2023]
COP3530 will be offered in Summer 2023 and you can take the course fully remote.
[Generic Requests] The best way to contact me is through email.
My email address is
kapooramanpreet@ufl.edu. I reply most emails within 72 business hours
unless I am out-of-office. In the latter case, you will recieve an automatic
message stating when I will be back.
[UF students in my Course] In case you are a student enrolled in my course at the University of Florida, the best
way to contact me is meeting me directly in office hours. I will not reply any email that consists of any course related
requests.
[Waiver of Pre-requisites] The department has a strict policy on not waiving prerequisites.
So you will not be able to take COP3530, if you haven't completed COP3503 and COT3100. Concurrent enrollment with pre-requisites is not allowed.
[COP3502 FAQs] In case you have questions on COP3502 Programming Fundamentals 1, refer to
this document before reaching out to me.
Office Hours
If you are a UF student, the best way to meet me is at office hours.
I will be holding office hours virtually over Zoom.
You can discuss course and career related questions. Also, I would be
happy to discuss pretty much anything only if we do not have long
lines. These office hours are based on a community-based model
(idea influenced by
Philip Guo and
Scott Klemmer)
which means I hold office hours together for students across different courses
and academic years.
If you want to discuss something more privately, either tell me during
office hours so that we can go to a break-out room or send me a slack message
or email to setup time to meet.
Letter of Recommendation
If you were an undergraduate student researcher or TA working under my supervision
or a student enrolled in one of my courses, and if you would like me to write a Letter
of Recommendation for you, reach out to me on
my email with the following information at least
three weeks before the deadline:
- Resume
- Link to the Application where you are applying
- Two-three points on why you are a great fit as an applicant
- Deadline to submit the application
- Two-three points on what are the things you have done in my course. This could be
being highly creative in a project or contributing
significantly to the course discussion forums
- Signed
FERPA Release form after I agree to write the letter
- Statement of Purpose and Unofficial Transcript (if applying to graduate school)
I can only write the letter if I know you personally and we had interactions beyond the class. That is because
I write highly personalized letters. If you are one of the students who got an A but never interacted
with me throughout the course, I will not be able to write you a strong recommendation letter.
